Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LVLD ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use the LVLD mobile app and the website lvldmoney.app (together, the "Service").
Information we collect
- Account information: such as your name and email address, if you provide them when setting up the app or contacting support.
- Financial information via Plaid: with your permission, we connect to your financial institution through Plaid Inc. to receive account balances, account details and transaction information (such as amounts, dates, merchant names and categories). We never receive or store your online banking username or password; those credentials are handled by Plaid and your bank.
- Information you enter in the app: such as budgets, savings goals, income and bill details, and check-ins.
- Content you share for affordability checks: if you use the "can I afford it" feature, the screenshot, photo or product link you share is sent to our backend, where an AI service extracts the item name and price so we can give you a verdict. Photos you take with the camera for this feature are read once and then deleted; we never save to or read from your photo library beyond the image you choose. Shared content is used only to answer your affordability check.
- Device identifier: a random identifier generated on your device, used to associate your bank connections with your installation and to apply fair-use rate limits. It is not your advertising ID and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
- Purchase information: your subscription status, so we know your subscription is active. Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your payment card details.
- Usage and diagnostic data: crash reports and basic diagnostic information used to keep the app reliable.
How we use your information
- To provide the Service: safe-to-spend calculations, transaction categorisation, spending insights, payday tracking, goals, streaks, levels and money reports.
- To store and sync your data. LVLD is built device-first: your data lives in a local database on your phone. Balance and transaction information received through Plaid, and figures derived from it, are also stored in our secure backend so bank syncing works.
- To respond to support requests.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the Service.
What we do not do
- We do not move money or initiate payments.
- We do not sell your personal or financial data.
- We do not receive or store your online banking credentials.
Plaid
We use Plaid to connect your financial accounts. Plaid's collection and use of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, and where required by law. These providers may only use your information to provide services to us. They are:
- Plaid: bank account connections and transaction data.
- Supabase: secure hosting of our backend database.
- Anthropic: AI processing of the images and links you share for affordability checks, to extract the item name and price. Anthropic does not receive your financial or bank data.
- RevenueCat: subscription management. RevenueCat receives your device identifier and purchase history so your subscription works across reinstalls.
- Sentry: crash reporting, so we can find and fix errors. Crash reports do not include your financial data.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as you use the Service. You can disconnect your bank accounts at any time in the app, and you can request deletion of your data at any time. See Data deletion. When you request deletion, we delete your personal and financial information from our systems, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is restricted, and bank connections are handled by Plaid so that your banking credentials never touch our systems.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
